Mrs. King
Welcome to my profile page! I am Mrs. Elizabeth King, English Language Arts Teacher, Theatre Arts Teacher, and Teacher Librarian. This is my 9th year teaching at Savanna High School.
I graduated from Dana Hills High School, where I won many Academic Achievement Awards in Language Arts and Performing Arts. I attended Saddleback College for two years, appearing on the Dean's List each semester. I studied abroad at Oxford University in England through a student exchange program. I finished out my Undergraduate Studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara. I received my first teaching credential in English Language Arts from the University of California at Irvine. I am currently working on my second teaching credential in Library Science, and a Master's in Education from California State University Long Beach.
In addition to my traditional education, I have had many other opportunities to perfect my craft. I have won many reading and writing contests over the years, even having some of my work published in local periodicals. I began recording at the age of eight, singing and doing dialogue on children's albums. I have since recorded on over 50 albums, and been a part of many bands. I have taken dance lessons since the age of three. I studied ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, musical comedy, ballroom and salsa. I was the Varsity Dance Production Team Captain of my high school. I taught ballet and jazz for six years. I have starred in, directed, and choreographed many stage productions.
Education is one of the highest priorities of my life. It is my job to educate and prepare each one of my students for the future. I believe that education should be an enjoyable and meaningful experience that nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity.
"A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops" ~Henry B. Adams
