School Site Council

The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, and students (at the high school level) that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The members of the site council are generally elected by their peers. For example, parents elect the parent representatives and teachers elect teachers.

English Learner Advisory Committee

(ELAC)

The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a school-level committee comprised of parents, staff, and community members. The purpose of ELAC is to provide the parents of English Learner students with an opportunity to participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of core and support programs for students who are learning English. ELAC members advise the school on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), the school’s needs assessment, the Language Census Report (R30-LC), and efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance. Each school’s ELAC Committee also has the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), which advises the school district Board of Trustees on matters affecting English Learner students.
