Parents,
Here are the slides from our parent information nights with helpful information to start school next week!
Hello, AUHSD Families! We hope you all had a fantastic summer. As you and your student prepare for the new school year, we would like to share the District's latest COVID information with you.
- The District does not require students to be fully vaccinated.
- Students do not have to test weekly for COVID-19.
- Mask use is not mandatory; however, they are available for use by students, staff, and visitors.
- Hand sanitizer will be available throughout campus.
- The District will continue to disinfect classrooms and high-touch points daily.
- The District will continue to contact trace positive and symptomatic students because we are required to report student and staff outbreaks (3 or more positives, at one location, within 14 days) to the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA).
- Please report if your student has been in close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who tested positive for COVID, has 2 or more COVID like symptoms, or tested positive for COVID here.
- We will continue to make rapid tests available for staff and students.
- Please get tests from your school's senior administrator.
- Please note, staff are not authorized to perform the test on your student.
- You or your student are able to perform the test.
- Additional testing information and resources are available here.
- Air purifiers remain in use and the filters were replaced over the summer break.
- The District will continue to follow OCHCA and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines.
- As with last year, we will continue to share any new information or resources that become available.
- You can find additional information from CDPH on COVID at the following websites:

Take care and have a great school year!
Rainbow fentanyl can be found in many forms, including pills, powder, and blocks that can resemble sidewalk chalk or candy. Any pill, regardless of its color, shape, or size, that does not come from a health care provider or pharmacist can contain fentanyl and can be deadly.
Anyone who encounters fentanyl in any form should not handle it and should call 911 immediately.
Recognizing the signs of opioid overdose can save a life. Here are some things to look for:
- Small, constricted “pinpoint pupils”
- Falling asleep or losing consciousness
- Slow, weak, or no breathing
- Choking or gurgling sounds
- Limp body
- Cold and/or clammy skin
- Discolored skin (especially in lips and nails)
It may be hard to tell if a person is high or experiencing an overdose. If you aren’t sure, treat it like an overdose. Here are the steps that could save a life:
- Call 911 immediately
- Administer naloxone, if available
- Try to keep the person awake and breathing
- Lay the person on their side to prevent choking
- Stay with the person until emergency help arrives
Get more facts about Fentanyl from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). See the US Drug Enforcement Agency's warning about the rise in Fentanyl use at Drug Enforcement Agency

Important Masking Update
Mask Statement to Families
In order to keep our campus community healthy, everyone is required to properly wear a mask (covering nose and mouth) while entering campus. Although masks are not required outdoors, this will serve as verification that all have a mask to wear while indoors. Everyone is required to wear a mask indoors in K-12 settings per the California Department of Public Health. Masks will be available for anyone that needs a mask. Refusal to wear a mask indoors may result in students being removed from school. The first three days of absences, due to refusal to wear a mask indoors, will be marked verified "parent request." Additional absences, due to refusal to wear a mask, will be marked unexcused and may result in a referral to School Attendance Review Board (SARB). A parent or guardian may request independent studies as an alternative school placement.
